Canada Day the Durham Way

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, we will not be able to host the usual Canada Day celebrations in Palmer Park for the year 2020. This, however, will not stop us from celebrating our great Canadian heritage. On July 1st, 2020, the Township of Scugog, along with all other municipalities throughout Durham, will be hosting a first-of-its-kind virtual Canada Day event on our respective Facebook pages through the WatchParty function, as well as on RogersTV.

The virtual Canada Day will include a Scugog-based pre-show starting at 1:30, leading into the Durham Region’s main event that will take place from 2:00 – 5:00pm. The event will include shout-outs from various mayors and councillors among Scugog and the Durham Region, as well as live entertainment, interactive activities, and an interview of Port Perry’s very own Gold Medal kid Ty Dellandrea, hosted by councillor Lance Brown.

The main event will include pre-recorded performances by names like Jack De Keyser, Sultans of String, Leah Daniels and many more! There will also be various interactive activities, so gather your family and join the Watchparty to participate in fun activities to celebrate Canada Day!

There will also be a fire-show in-lieu of the annual firework show held in previous years. Although we are apart this year, we will do what we can to make sure our entire Region can come together and celebrate our rich heritage!

Share photos of you and your family showing your Canadian spirit on social media using the hashtag #CommunityIsntCancelled, tagging @twpofscugog or sending them to us directly using the email Let’s show the Region how proud we are to be Canadian!
